Robotics Competitions Terms & Conditions
1. ELIGIBILITY: This competition is open to any person resident in the UK who is 14 years of age or older at the time of entry. Employees of Microsoft or its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising or promotion agencies are not eligible, nor are members of these employees’ families (defined as parents, children, siblings, spouse, and life partners).
2. TO ENTER: Entry into this competition may be made by visiting www.iloverobots.wotudo.net
(“Website”) and submitting an entry, along with your name, and email address. Only one entry per person will be accepted. Entry constitutes full and unconditional acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. Microsoft reserves the right to disqualify anyone in breach of these Terms and Conditions.
3. ENTRY SUBMISSIONS: Entry submission for Robot Idol shall include a photograph and description of a robot setting out the context of the submission. Entry submission for Bionic Blueprint shall include a 200-word or less description of an idea for a future robot setting out the context of the submission. All entry elements must be original. Entries may be made in the following Categories: 1. Robot Idol & 2. Bionic Blueprint.
4. TIMING: This competition runs from 09:00 GMT on 12th December 2007 – 12:00 GMT on 31st January 2008.
5. USE OF DATA: Personal data which you provide when you enter this competition may be used for future Microsoft robotics-related marketing activities. If you agree to this use, please tick the box on the Website.
6. SELECTION OF WINNERS: The winner of Robot Idol will be determined through public voting on www.iloverobots.wotudo.net. The public are expected to vote for the entry that most inspires them. The winner of Bionic Blueprint will be determined by a panel of Microsoft judges. The panel of judges will include at least one independent member. Bionic Blueprint will be judged on the basis of the most ingenious idea (as defined by originality, probability of being built, and approach to the solution). The winner(s) will be notified by email by February 11th, 2008. The winner(s) may be required to become involved in further publicity or advertising.
7. PRIZES: There will be one winner in each Category
· Robot Idol: The winner of this category will receive: £500 worth of credit to spend across the following internet retailers: www.active-robots.co.uk; www.robot-electronics.co.uk; www.mini-itx.com.
· Bionic Blueprint: The winner of this category will receive: £250 worth of credit to spend across the following internet retailers: www.active-robots.co.uk; www.robot-electronics.co.uk; www.mini-itx.com plus their robot created in a virtual world via Microsoft’s XNA technology.
8. Prizes are as stated and non transferable. No cash or other alternatives available. Microsoft reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value. The prizes will be delivered by no later than 29th February 2008.
9. WINNERS LIST: The winner(s) consent to their surname being made publicly available. The winner(s) surname will be available for a period of 3 months after the closing date by viewing www.wotudo.net
10. OTHER: No correspondence will be entered into regarding either this competition or these Terms and Conditions. In the unlikely event of a dispute, Microsoft’s decision shall be final. Microsoft reserves the right to amend, modify, cancel or withdraw this competition at any time without notice.
Microsoft cannot guarantee the performance of any third party and shall not be liable for any act or default by a third party. Participants in this promotion agree that Microsoft will have no liability whatsoever for any injuries, losses, costs, damage or disappointment of any kind resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly from acceptance, misuse or use of a prize, or from participation in this promotion. Nothing in this clause shall limit Microsoft’s liability in respect of death or personal injury arising out of its own negligence or arising out of fraud.
